National Social Inclusion Forum
This national forum is themed Building Inclusive Societies: Multiculturalism, Citizenship, Identity. It will be held on 7 October in Melbourne at the Melbourne Town Hall, with the Post- Forum Reception at the Immigration Museum.
It is auspiced by the United Nations Alliance of Civilizations and the Centre for Citizenship and Globalisation at Deakin University in partnership with the Ethnic Communities’ Councils of Victoria and in collaboration with a number of other key organizations such as the Department of Immigration and Citizenship (DIAC), the Federation of Ethnic Communities' Councils of Australia (FECCA), the Australian Multicultural Foundation (AMF) and the Immigration Museum.
The forum will bring together international, federal, state and local government policy makers and service providers, NGOs, community sector agencies, and academics to explore issues around multiculturalism and how such understandings can inform policy development and program improvement. The forum breakout sessions will focus on migration and cultural diversity, education, media and youth.
The forum themes will focus on:
- Education, citizenship and belonging
- Global youth and cultural identity
- Migration and cultural diversity
- Media, communication and social inclusion
