Australian Human Rights Commission
The Australian Human Rights Commission is an independent statutory organisation that works to protect and promote the human rights of all people in Australia. The Commission undertakes research on human rights issues and the site provides a range of publications and other resources for teachers, employers and others.
Brotherhood of St Laurence
This organisation runs a number of innovative programs directed towards the amelioration of poverty, disadvantage and social exclusion. They also conduct evaluations of their projects and their website contains a number of useful reports.
Campaign 2000
This is a cross Canada public education movement to build Canadian awareness and support for the 1989 all-party House of Commons resolution to end child poverty by 2000. The site describes projects and offers resources.
Canadian Council on Social Development
CCSD is a non-profit social policy and research organisation focusing on issues such as poverty, social inclusion, disability, cultural diversity, child well-being, employment and housing. It often works in conjunction with the Laidlaw Foundation (see below).
Centre for Economic and Social Inclusion UK
Inclusion is an independent non-profit organisation that works with the government, public sector, interest groups and business to develop policy and strategy and to implement ideas.
Centre for Social Impact
The CSI is a partnership between the Business Schools of the University of New South Wales, the University of Melbourne and Swinburne University of Technology committed to educating social entrepreneurs and doing research that will strengthen social enterprises.
Community Development Foundation
The CDF is a leading source of intelligence, guidance and delivery on community development in the UK.
Community Inclusion—Communities in Action (CICA)
CICA is a major partnership initiative between the Canadian Government and community organisations to foster the social inclusion of people with disabilities. The site contains information on projects, reports and other resources.
European Anti-Poverty Network
This is the reference portal on poverty and social exclusion in Europe. EAPN is a representative network of non-governmental organisations (NGOs) and groups involved in the fight against poverty and social exclusion in the Member States of the European Union.
European Commission Employment and Social Inclusion
European Union
Through the EU Social Protection and Social Inclusion Process, the European Union coordinates and encourages member state actions to combat poverty and social exclusion and to reform their social protection systems on the basis of policy exchanges and mutual learning. The website offers policies, experiences and best practices from member states.
International Federation of Settlements and Neighbour Centres
The IFS is an association of national, regional and local organisations working to strengthen communities in our society. The website has a resource centre for information on social inclusion.
International Labour Organization (ILO)
The ILO has developed a series of initiatives concerned with social inclusion, especially as it is articulated around the concept of “decent work”.
Laidlaw Foundation
A private, public-interest foundation working to strengthen civic engagement and social cohesion in Canada, with an emphasis on children and their families. It publishes a working paper series on Perspectives on Social Inclusion.
The National Social Inclusion Programme (United Kingdom)
Neighbourhood Renewal
Neighbourhood Renewal is a long-term commitment by the Victorian State Government to narrow the gap between disadvantaged communities and the rest of the State. It brings together the resources and ideas of residents, governments, businesses and community groups to tackle disadvantage in areas with concentrations of public housing. The website includes publications, guidelines and projects.
OECD
The OECD publishes a number of papers that are concerned with poverty, social exclusion and other economic variables. They also conduct, and publish, assessments of countries’ progress using, inter alia, indices of social exclusion.
Office for Social Inclusion, Ireland
The Office for Social Inclusion is the Irish Government Office with overall responsibility for developing, co-ordinating and driving Ireland’s national Action Plan for Social Inclusion 2007–2016.

Our Community Foundation
The Our Community website includes comprehensive advice, tools and training for community groups in Australia as well as practical linkages between the community sector, general public, business and government. The site also provides a directory of community groups and information about how individuals can participate in activities in their local area.

The Scottish Government has a number of initiatives and plans for combating poverty and social exclusion.
Social Inclusion Initiative, South Australia
This is the initiative of the South Australian Government that is focussed on ameliorating the problems of the most vulnerable. The site provides information on the initiative, their research and their publications.

UK Social Exclusion Task Force
The Social Exclusion Task Force runs out of the Cabinet Office of HM government in the UK. This taskforce replaced the original Social Exclusion Unit in 2006. It maintains the same remit: to co-ordinate the government’s drive against social exclusion and to ensure that the cross-departmental approach delivers for those in need.
UNESCO MOST program
This program focuses on building bridges between research, policy and practice and offers a best practices database, including successful projects related to poverty and social exclusion.
World Health Organisation (WHO)
WHO’s Commission on Social Determinants of Health has established a Knowledge Network on Social Exclusion.
